Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
What screams “summer” more than visiting a real-life, working farm? Better still, what if instead of barnyard animals, you tour a much more sweet-smelling place like, for example, a lavender farm? We think that sounds pretty amazing, and we’ve found an adorable lavender farm in Indiana where you can take tours, purchase awesome goods, and even throw a huge bash or have a wedding!
The Willowfield Lavender Farm is a stunningly beautiful paradise right here in Indiana, and it's so easy to get lost here.
The farm spans 28 acres, and the main attraction - the stunning field of lavender - occupies four of those acres. You can smell the fragrant essence of the lavender plants from several blocks away, and wow, is it a charming scent.
In 1992, Kieran and Libbe O'Connor made this land their pride and joy, originally starting with just 100 lavender plants in October 2001. It didn't take long, however, for the idea to grow - literally and figuratively!
Who wouldn't want to marry the love of their life surrounded by fragrant paradise in the form of seemingly endless lavender fields? Naturally, Willowfield Lavender Farm also sells all the lavender-based awesomeness you could ever ask for, in soaps, tinctures, and more.
Much of the property is nestled into woods, lending the area some top-notch bird-watching, nature walks, and so much more.
The best part, we think, is that a visit to the farm is totally free. That's right - you can come wander among the stunning purple flowers at no cost. Talk about relaxing!
Of course, the farm offers bundles of lavender for sale, and sometimes, when the harvest is abundant, visitors are allowed to pick their own.
For more pictures, as well as more in-depth information on booking events, planning your visit, and more, make sure to visit the official website. The farm is open from June to September, Wednesdays through Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
