Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
It’s time for another round of Fun Indiana Facts: did you know that there are 19 natural lakes in Indiana (that are greater than 500 acres in size)? It’s true! And though we might sometimes get caught up in some of the more popular lakes in Indiana, like Monroe Lake and, of course, Lake Michigan, there are tons of other awesome bodies of water out there – natural and man-made – that are worth checking out. For example, one of my favorite hidden gems in Indiana is Waubee Lake, a quiet little swimming hole that’s perfect for folks who aren’t huge fans of throngs of people. Check it out:
Waubee Lake is indeed a natural one, though it's not counted in the above-mentioned number because it's just 197 acres in size.
It shimmers a brilliant blue in the sun, and it seems to endlessly reflect the blue sky overhead. It's known for its cleanliness and overall excellent water quality - it's a wonderful place for a swim to escape the summer heat.

If you're interested in fishing, you'll find a boating ramp present at the park from which you may embark upon your adventure.
Indiana's lakes are truly beautiful, and there's much to be seen. Don't ever let anyone tell you that Indiana is boring - we have so many awesome little hidden spots to enjoy, like this one.
On the north side of the lake is Waubee Park, a must-do for families with kids!
There's an excellent playground with a wonderful view of the lake, which really is a win-win for everyone. Once the kids are bored with the playground, they can go play in the water - or vice-versa.
Waubee Lake in Indiana is an outdoor lover's best friend, I think, because it's just so perfectly idyllic.
It's not every day you wander into a park this beautiful alongside a body of water this clean, and it's truly a special treat.
For more information about Waubee Lake and Waubee Lake Park, be sure to check out the official Visit Kosciusko County website. What are your favorite lakes in Indiana? Let me know in the comments – you might see your faves featured someday.
