There's one campground in Beverly Shores that makes the perfect destination for stargazing in Indiana: Dunewood Campground, which is delightfully close to Lake View Beach.

Since Beverly Shores is a designated dark-sky city, so too is Dunewood Campground, making for the perfect nighttime getaway.
It's astonishingly beautiful by day, with proximity to Lake Michigan and all the paradise it brings.

There are 66 campsites total: 54 are drive-in sites and 12 are walk-in sites; four of those sites are ADA accessible. There are no electric or water hookups, so plan accordingly. Oh, and bring a telescope - it'll be amazing.

From January to June, the Milky Way is typically visible in the very, very early morning, before dawn. From July to October, the Milky Way is typically visible at nighttime overhead. From November to January, though, it is usually not visible at all.

There are lots of places to enjoy dark sky camping in Indiana.  Here are just a few of the great campgrounds in Indiana:

  • Indiana Dunes State Park - This campground is located on Lake Michigan and features over 130 campsites, including some with electric hookups. It's also close to hiking trails, beaches, and other outdoor activities.
