Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
When you think about paradise, what do you see in your mind’s eye? Maybe it’s conjuring up something about the beaches of the Bahamas, or perhaps it’s imagining somewhere a little more… foresty. It’s for those foresty folks that we’re talking about the hiking trail in Indiana today! We found this lesser-known, totally underappreciated nature hike in the Hoosier State that you won’t want to miss. Check out Lawrence Creek Trail, a magically scenic hike in Indiana you won’t find anywhere else!
Sure, it's not terribly long at just 3.3 miles point-to-point, but it's so full of magic and natural beauty you'll find it easy to lose yourself here anyway.
The trail starts at the first intersection with the Camp Glenn Trail. It's a delightful adventure from start to finish, and we think you'll be as obsessed as we are once you're finished with it.
During the late spring and early summer, wildflowers carpet the greenery on the forest floor.
Colorful birds and flashy butterflies flutter around and add to the whimsy of this little slice of paradise. It's easy to forget you're in the Midwest.

It feels more like something out of a fantasy woodland, like an enchanted forest.
If you're photographically inclined, this is one beautiful hike in Indiana you'll want to bring your camera along for - just be careful not to drop it! There's mud that can be slippery in some places on this trail (and in many places if it's just been raining), and there are logs and rocks to get over or past. Take care while doing so; you want to get your camera home safe (and your knees home unscraped).
There are plenty of creek crossings, but this one might be our favorite: a fairy-tale footbridge extending over the chilly water, also looking like something out of a movie or dream.
You know, this might be one of the dreamiest trails we've covered yet. Between the lush, vibrant green foliage (that turns a surreal, brilliant gold in the fall), the wildflowers, the clear, babbling water, the singing birds, the whistling wind in the trees, and everything else that makes Lawrence Creek Trail what it is, we don't know what to rave about first.
We're not certain why this trail doesn't seem to get the love it deserves. Once people have hiked it, they tend to come back - but getting new hikers to it is oddly challenging. If you've never done this gorgeous hike in Indiana, try it at least once - you're not at all likely to regret the decision.
Of course, you'll want to wear closed-toed, water-friendly hiking shoes; bring plenty of water, and wear sunscreen (even if it's cloudy) - make sure you don't regret it for those reasons, either.
...we still stand by the idea that you won't regret it for lack of natural beauty, because you'll be surrounded by it. Come see why this is one of our favorite hiking trails in Indiana!
