4. The Lost River – Orangeville

The Lost River is a river that seemingly disappears for 23 miles and then pops back up in Orangeville. However, the river doesn’t really disappear – it just goes underground, which is really awesome. This river has been dubbed a National Natural Landmark for two different reasons: 1) the way the river sinks into the limestone and seemingly disappears for miles is remarkable and 2) the underground river system is distinctly unique.

Find it at 38°37′52″N 86°33′26″W (there’s no exact address – but these coordinates will get you to the rise).
