Indiana has some incredible places to find a good sausage sandwich — especially with all of the killer German restaurants we have. However, there’s another style of sausage that’s famous in one small Indiana town and you’ll want to try it. In fact, this tiny shop in Indiana might just serve the best sausage sandwich in the state.
Editor’s Note: Lynethe’s Deli & Pierogies is permanently closed.
Whiting, Indiana is a small town nestled in Lake County that's famous for its epic annual Pierogi Festival. Lynethe's Deli & Pierogies is one of the stars of the show. While they're well known for their authentic and delicious Polish pierogies, they're also beloved for their incredible Polish sausage sandwich.
Lynethe's might be famous at Pierogi Fest — and for good reason — but you can visit this small deli any time of year to enjoy their delicious authentic foods, all made from scratch every day by their incredible cook.
Their most popular food is by far their pierogi, available in a wide variety of flavors like traditional, cabbage, meat, spinach, mushroom, kraut, and more.
But that's not all Lynethe's is well known for. Locals also rave about their homemade stuffed cabbage, Salisbury steak, meatloaf, fried chicken, and of course, their famous Polish sausage.
Eat inside the cozy and welcoming deli or get your order to go. Just be sure to go early in the day if you're hoping to get their sausage sandwich or one of their daily specials, as they can sell out quickly!
You can also enjoy a large sampling of Polish foods from Lynethe's and other local restaurants at Pierogi Fest, this year on July 27th, 28th, and 29th.
