This historic village has over 20 log cabins that were built in the early 1800s that offer a glimpse of housing and living as an early American pioneer. You can take a tour of the interior and exterior of these structures to view the fine craftsmanship and remarkable detail embedded in each home.

One of the structures you'll get to explore is a community schoolhouse, where you'll get a first hand experience of how children would be educated over 150 years ago.

You'll also get to visit unique shops and displays, including this medical store and doctor's clinic to see how far technology has come in recent years. Other shops include a weaver's shop, leather shop, distillery, woodshop, tavern, pottery shop, and garden cabin.
Interpreters will guide you through the park and showcase their many trades and chores, such as blacksmithing.

Other popular early pioneer chores on display include weaving, candle-making, rope-making, and gardening.
The centerpiece of Pioneer Village is the stunning grist mill which was originally constructed in 1817. This huge limestone mill still grind corn to this day, operating based on water power from the nearby Hamer Cave.
You can step inside the mill to learn a little more about how the corn grinding process works and see the inner workings of this historic structure.

Pioneer Village also hosts events throughout the year, including their incredible Civil War reenactment. You can witness and experience the battles between the Union and Confederate soldiers and learn more about Indiana's unique role in this monumental war.
