Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
There are some things in life that simply take us back to another time. Maybe it’s a visit to your favorite childhood mall, or that bowling alley you used to go to with your dad on Wednesdays. Or, maybe, it’s a night at the drive-in movie theatre, be it with family or friends, that takes you back to those simpler days. Indiana was once home to no less than 18 drive-in theatres, though today that number is quite a bit lower. Enter The Tibbs: a beloved, old-school drive-in theatre in Indiana that is equal parts modern and nostalgic bliss. Pull up and grab some snacks, because you’re in for a great night!
The Tibbs Drive-In opened in 1967 with just one screen, and ever since, it's only been expanding and improving.
One can only imagine all the movies these screens have seen; there have been literally hundreds and hundreds of movies released between 1967 and now! If these screens or parking spaces could speak, what tales would they tell? And what would their favorite movies be?

You'll want to arrive about an hour prior to your screening of choice; and, in the meantime, you'll certainly want to visit the snack bar.
It's little more than a snack bar, really; it serves entrees like burgers, hot dogs, chicken and/or tenderloin sandwiches, corn dogs, and more. Does that pizza not look to die for? Hot and fresh!
Sound is projected through your FM radio in your vehicle, just like always; luckily, though, the technology has come a long way, and the quality of the audio is much better than it ever was before.
This southwest Indy staple has been around for a long time, and we hope it'll be around for much longer still.
The Tibbs is open Thursdays through Sundays; you can find a full menu, a list of current showings, and a list of future showings at the theatre’s official website. You can also buy your tickets in advance on there, as well.
So, what do you think? Have you ever been to this classic drive-in theatre in Indiana? Tell us some of your favorite memories in the comments below!
