After all, our bodies are a little biased in favor of all things sweet, salty, or fatty (because it’s all delicious), and we’ve gone ahead and researched a handful of our favorite resources in Indiana for exactly that (at least the sweet part, anyway). We wandered along a dessert trail in Indiana to bring you the best stops on a handy-dandy list! Located in - surprise - French Lick, Indiana, this little shop is famous among locals and Midwesterners alike just because its ice cream is that good. 2. J. Edwards Fine Chocolates & Gourmet Cakes, Kokomo
When it comes to candy stores in Indiana that go above and beyond in terms of wonderfulness, J. Edward's is an unstoppable force of... well, maybe not nature, but sugar and cocoa is natural, so it counts, right? Anyway, we digress. J. Edwards is the very definition of a local jewel, crafting and serving up some of the most beautiful cakes, delectable chocolates and otherwise killer sweets that you'll find yourself craving long after you've left.
Ah, yes, no list of sweet shops in IN would be complete without mentioning Schimpff's Confections, in Jeffersonville. This is one of the oldest candy shops in the state, and there's a reason for its longevity: it's seriously off-the-hook amazing. You can't go wrong with even one little thing offered here. We dare you to leave without one of everything (good luck).
If there's anything we love to bits here at OnlyInYourState, it's the numerous amazing mom and pop shops in Indiana that are sure to become your new favorite places. Enter Sunshine and Cinnamon Cafe, a little joint in Alexandria that's just as sugary sweet and wonderful as its name implies. Mmmm. Everything.
We're not sure if we can trust anyone who says they don't like ice cream, especially the ice cream from Ullery's Homemade Ice Cream in Richmond. It's the perfect balance of creamy, frozen, and flavorful, and we dare you to find a better local ice cream shop in town. Ullery's ice cream is flawless and perfectly made, and we think you'll be inclined to agree.
Last but in no way least on this list is Whatchamacakes, an amazing little bakery in Indiana that you'll find in Kendallville. We cannot stress enough just how beautiful every little thing up for grabs here is. These are the very essence of gourmet cakes and cupcakes, and we think you'll agree.
