There are two kinds of people in this world: those who enjoy wandering across bridges toward who knows what kind of adventure, and those who are absolutely never, ever, ever going to get on that confounded bridge, who will happily watch you do so without going themselves. Well, this one is for the former group. Indiana is home to lots (and lots, and lots) of bridges, but there’s one in particular that quite literally leads to endless opportunities for adventure. Meander across the incredible Turkey Creek suspension bridge in Indiana, located at Turkey Run State Park, for the ultimate Hoosier State adventure!

There are many bridges in Parke County, Indiana - so many, in fact, that the area is considered the "covered bridge capital" of the Midwest.

But there's another bridge that demands much more attention from tourists and locals than the covered ones usually do; it's impossible to miss and, if you want to enjoy the trails and everything else Turkey Run State Park has to offer, you're going to need to cross it.
Hanging over Sugar Creek is a 200-foot-long wire suspension bridge which was originally built more than a century ago.

In 2013, this old bridge was heavily damaged by catastrophic flooding and required reconstruction. Thanks to that, nearly everything about the bridge is technically new - except for many of the original wires, which remain in use.
In order to access all the magic of this breathtaking state park in Indiana, one must first brave the crossing of the bridge.

Some say that is the most beautiful suspension bridge in Indiana. Be aware that it sways and rocks a little bit with every person who dares cross it, but we assure you that it's 150% safe - it just feels weird!

The bridge is an attraction to the park in and of itself, attracting bridge enthusiasts from all over the Hoosier State to come admire it.

Of course, though the bridge is a blast and we totally love it, we love what it leads to even more: an incredibly lush, brilliantly green forest wilderness where there's usually a fine mist in the air.
Folks afraid of heights may want to skip this one, however.

The bridge hangs high over Sugar Creek, but as tempting as it seems, unfortunately, wading or swimming is prohibited in this area. Looks like you'll just have to admire it from above!
While at Turkey Run State Park in Indiana, be sure to check out some of the most beloved hiking trails in the area.

We are hopelessly obsessed with Trail #3, and locals and visitors alike rave about Trails #1 and #2 as well. Be sure to also do the Turkey Run Outer Loop trail, which is six miles long and excellent for a day hike.
Turkey Run State Park is also perfect for camping, fishing, and adventuring in general.
