It’s that time of year when summer transitions to fall and we get to start enjoying harvest goods. There is a sunflower festival going on in La Porte soon that is about all things autumn, and all Hoosiers will love it.
From carnival rides to live music, this celebration is a local tradition that can’t be skipped. Scroll on for more details.
Taking place Saturday, September 15, 2018, the LaPorte Sunflower Fair is an annual event that has been going on since 1998. It features a plethora of activities and entertainment for locals of all ages.
Other activities include a 5K run, a sunflower contest, a scarecrow building competition, a kid's coloring contest, a farmer's market, and an art walk. You'll definitely spend plenty of time on your feet at this fair.
Guests even enjoy live entertainment. Bands play on a volunteer basis, so you'll likely hear some of the area's best local sounds. Catch them throughout the day.
There will also be a car show as well as a rib cook-off that finishes off the day. Though this is a sunflower festival, many of the attractions are exactly what you'd expect to find at any good county fair.
This will be the 20th anniversary of the LaPorte Sunflower Fair. Activities begin around 8 a.m. and end at about 4 p.m. Stop by with your friends or family for a full day of food, flowers, and fun.
