When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
You know what they say: home is where the heart is. And if you’re anything like me, no matter where you go, your heart is usually somewhere else… and in my case, it’s typically in the Midwest. Indiana is one of the most beautiful states in the heart of the Midwest, and those who come from it are typically pretty proud of this fact. That’s where companies like Wear Your Roots come in: they help us celebrate all the things that make home, well, home – and they do it beautifully. Are you a lifelong Hoosier? Whether the answer to that is yes or no (and you just moved here), it’s all good: here are 10 surefire signs you’ve got strong roots in Indiana.
1. Even if you're not personally a racing fan, Race Day still means something to you.
I mean, come on - we're the home of the Indianapolis 500, the single most legendary race in the world. As a direct result of this, we're also home to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, which is probably one of the (if not THE) most famous racetracks on the planet. When people think of Indiana, they think of racing... or corn. There is no in-between.
For a bunch of people who spend a lot of time insisting to out-of-staters that Indiana is more than just corn and cornfields, we sure do think of Indiana a lot when we spot seemingly endless fields of corn, don't we? Oh well. It's part of our charm.

3. If your tenderloin is not exponentially larger than the bun it's served on, it doesn't count.
We don't make the rules, we just abide by them... strictly. Breaded tenderloin is the official Hoosier State sandwich, and being served one that's not overly enormous is almost an insult. Give us huge or take us home!
Who says you can't have a beach day in the Midwest? Definitely not me; Lake Michigan is absolutely amazing for exactly this. It's so enormously vast that it looks and feels like the ocean, complete with waves and tides. Indiana Dunes National Park is probably my favorite spot for Lake Michigan access; it's so beautiful that it's almost otherwordly... and it's all home to us.
Excited about Indiana yet? You can always
Ah, yes, the famed Hoosier sugar cream pie. Look, you're allowed to like other pies - apple and pumpkin, anyone? - but if your favorite pie isn't sugar cream pie (or a variation of), does it really count? I think not. Born-n-bred Hoosiers will argue 'til they're blue in the face about how sugar cream pie is better than literally everything else.
Seriously, who needs to hunker down when there's a green sky, sirens and a tornado warning? Not us. Who wants to be sheltering underground or something when we can be watching the action? Clearly, it's the only way to do storm season.
Indianapolis is proud to be the home of the largest children's museum in the world, and even adults are sure to love it. It's an amazingly fun and educational experience for the whole family (even the adults). If you don't know the place better than the backs of your hands by now, did you really grow up here?
Indiana is home to countless gorgeous, historic covered bridges (especially Parke County). There's no way you didn't grow up seeing plenty of these beautiful things all over the place, and now you can't help but think of home when you see them out and about.
