The Strangest Town In The Midwest Is Right Here In Indiana... And You’ll Want To Visit
We have some pretty strange things here in Indiana. From quirky small towns to roadside attractions, there’s no limit to the weirdness you’ll find in the Hoosier state. This town in Indiana is no different, and may be the strangest town in the entire Midwest (in a good way, of course!).

Mentone, Indiana is a small town in Kosciusko County with roughly 1,000 residents. This small town has its quirks like any other, but also holds a pretty strange title: The Egg Basket of the Midwest.

That's because Mentone is one of the largest egg producers in the region, a heritage residents are pretty darn proud of. In fact, this small town is even home to the largest egg in the world, weighing roughly 3,000 pounds. While this title is unconfirmed, anyone from Mentone will tell you it's true - you won't find a larger egg anywhere.

Like true Hoosiers, residents of Mentone are proud of their heritage and to show how much they love their role in the egg industry, they hold an Egg Festival every year, usually in the spring.

This festival has everything you could hope for some an Indiana celebration: a tractor show, parade, egg-themed games, food, and even a Miss Chick and Mr. Rooster contest. Weird as it might seem to outsiders, this traditional festival is an important event in Mentone.

This little town is definitely weird in all of the best ways! Come visit the big egg and be sure to check out next year's Egg Celebration for an unforgettable time.
