Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
Indiana is an old state with plenty of rich history. If you have an interest in history, you can find some pretty interesting things here. From old hotels and resorts to historic cemeteries and more, if you crave it, you’ll find it here. However, there’s another kind of craving that history can serve you on – and that’s the craving for a nice, big, juicy steak, cooked to absolute perfection. Enter St. Elmo Steak House in Indianapolis – one of the oldest restaurants in the state. As one of the oldest steakhouses in Indiana, it’s certainly earned its reputation as a legend, both locally and nationally.
St. Elmo Steak House was established in 1902 and, unlike other historic restaurants throughout the Hoosier State, it's still in its original location.
The master chefs here at St. Elmo's have steaks down to an art form, and you'll have to return again and again once those inevitable cravings for more begin.
St. Elmo's has been the recipient of literally dozens of prestigious dining awards, and it's made a name for itself all over the world over the last several decades.
It was named as one of Forbes' "10 Great Classic Restaurants Well Worth Visiting," and the James Beard Foundation called it one of "America's Classics."
St. Elmo's has been recognized so many times and has received so many accolades that it would be silly to list them all here.
From Monday to Friday, dinner is from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. On Saturdays, you'll find its doors open from 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., and on Sundays, it's open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. There's also a lounge known as the 1933 Lounge, and it's open Monday through Saturday from 4 p.m. to 12 a.m., and on Sundays from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m.
