Modoc's Market is a small town mart located in the heart of Wabash, Indiana. The building the market is located in has an extremely interesting story, one Modoc's paid great tribute to.

In 1942, the Great American Circus was visiting the are and put on a show at Wabash High School. The circus elephant, Modoc, smelled peanuts at the local drug store and broke through their front door, and ate its way through the store's peanuts. From there, Modoc took off, traveling between two counties for the next five days.

Modoc instantly became the most famous elephant in Wabash, and the story of Modoc remained a local legend. So, when a market wanted to move into the famous space that Modoc once smashed through, they knew they had to pay tribute to this unique elephant.

Thus, the name "Modoc's Market" was born, along with the elephants that line the storefront and can be found within the store.
