Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
The Midwest isn’t exactly known for its exotic and/or unusual cuisine, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t still know how to serve up a darn good dish or two. On second thought, you know what? Maybe the Midwest is known for some of its culinary prowess; can you think of anyone else who does comfort food (like Indiana’s world-famous breaded tenderloin) better than us? Maybe not! As it turns out, there are lots of towns scattered all over the Hoosier State that are hidden gem paradises for foodies; some of these towns have so many restaurants that you’d probably need more than a week to try them all. One such town is the beautiful little locale of Carmel, located just outside of Indy. This foodie town in Indiana has so many eateries, bakeries, and restaurants, in fact, that you’re sure to obsess about for ages. Let’s take a look:
Carmel, Indiana, was originally called Bethlehem- and it was platted and recorded in 1837.
Easily the most elegant bakery in the entire Midwest, we've covered the Cake Bake Shop before. You won't believe how fairy-tale perfect it is, inside and out, and the baked goodies contained within are to die for. The Cake Bake Shop is the perfect example of what makes Carmel's culinary options so wonderful. (You can find it at 799 Hanover Place, Upper Deck, Hanover Place Suite 260, Carmel, Indiana, 46032.)
Other options include foodie faves from all over the world, including (but not limited to) Japanese, Italian, Mexican, desserts, German, fusion, and SO many more.
In the case of this small Indiana town, the possibilities really do feel endless. No matter what you've got a hankerin' for, you'll probably find it in some way or another in (or around) Carmel.
There are so many restaurants, eateries, and bakeries (and more!) that here that it's impossible to mention and/or list every one.
Some of our favorites include local legends like Prime 47, a dazzlingly spectacular steakhouse nestled in downtown Carmel, and Kona Grill at Clay Terrace Mall is also second-to-none.
Anyone who prefers a more laid-back, pub-like setting ought to check out fun, lighthearted spots like Muldoon's Pub.
On the other hand, pizza aficionados will probably love Bazbeaux Pizza; and, should you find yourself in the general Carmel area known also as Westfield, you could also try the world-famous Italian House on Park.
So while Indiana isn't known for its dining destinations, it really ought to be.
Carmel isn’t even the only ideal foodie town in Indiana; there are plenty more, and we’d love to know what your favorites are! Tell us about your favorite food towns (and of course all the restaurants you love there) in the comments!
