Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
Fun fact: Indiana is home to 22 known and named waterfalls. Oftentimes, though, there are even more – especially when it’s snowmelt season or after we’ve had good rainfall. Some of the waterfalls in Indiana tend to get a little more attention than the rest (like, for example, Williamsport Falls – which is pretty awesome), and this means that other falls might go a little bit under the radar. Well, I’d like to take a moment right now to appreciate a particular Indiana waterfall that seems to get overlooked a lot: it’s called Muscatatuck Falls, and it’s a sight to behold! Check it out:
While wandering around Muscatuck Park, you're sure to find some small waterfalls scattered about along the river.
As the water rushes past the rocks, it creates an amazingly powerful - but still somehow soothing - sound that you'll hear coming for quite a while before you arrive.
You can even hike behind the falls (though I don't recommend doing that when the falls are really flowing).
The waterfall isn't even the only draw to Muscatatuck Park; sure, the park is known for having one of the coolest waterfalls in Indiana to those who know it exists, but it's also a place for some truly awesome hiking, canoeing and/or kayaking, and so much more.
You could make an entire day trip out of the falls...
...or out of the whole park. Ultimately, the possibilities are only as limited as the time you're willing to spend here (and I wouldn't blame you if it was all day).
