Foodies of the Hoosier State, unite! If there’s anything we love (well, other than the natural wonders of the world, but… you know…food), it’s searching for the next best place to grab a bite to eat. We like local, mom-and-pop shops in Indiana and prefer them over corporate chains, and the delectable little slice of tasty heaven we’re checking out today is the epitome of a mom-and-pop stop. Well, except for the part where it’s a father/son joint established in 1974 – but close enough. Hungry enough to stuff your face and then some? Head to Nick’s Chili Parlor in Indy, a to-die-for roadside stop, and order yourself the single best footlong chili dog in Indiana.
It's no wonder why this little place has been open for nearly five decades.
Its name is synonymous with the best chili in Indiana, and when that incredible, house-made chili is spread over 12 inches of delicious, classic hot dog goodness, complete with heaps of cheese and any fixin's you might want to add, it becomes the single best thing you'll ever devour when you've got a gnarly case of the munchies.
To say the footlong chili dog is amazing is to sort of understate it.
There's something so satisfying about biting into one of these bad boys. Best of all, it's quite literally a roadside restaurant - easy to access, and definitely easy to accidentally eat an afternoon away at.

It's a comfy, family-oriented kind of place, with a friendly feel to it that'll keep you coming back for more.
Of course, the chili dogs aren't your only option here. There are also other hot dog choices, too, like the quarter-pounder, the Chicago dog, the Carolina dog, the New York dog, and more.
Sure, another restaurant, coincidentally also called something with "Nick's" in the name, might be the OG birthplace of the breaded tenderloin sandwich, but this Nick's might as well lay some claim to it, too, since it's so ridiculously GOOD.
More choices include burgers, tamales, grilled cheese sandwiches, and more.
If you ever find yourself craving good ol' American fare, or maybe some deliciously perfect comfort food, you're going to want to go to Nick's Chili Parlor.
They call themselves the home of the "Not Yet World Famous" chili, but we don't know. Maybe with a little help, it can reach the world-famous status it so rightly deserves.
It's already Indiana-famous, right? Might as well go big from here.
For the full menu, as well as the most up-to-date hours and specials, be sure to pay a visit to the official Nick’s Chili Parlor website.
