The only display of its kind, the South Bend River Lights is a year-round show that attracts residents from all over the state and beyond. Magic and wonder do not have to end with the fall and winter holidays.
The display is made up of light sculptures on either side of the river as well as a third sculpture that unites them. It is a truly a sight to see any time of year.
Many of the lights included in this display are interactive. Using motion sensors, certain structures can tell when you are nearby and will change accordingly. Visitors can also send a stream of color across the river for others to send back.
The color of the lights frequently changes with the seasons or holidays. Christmas, Valentine's, Memorial Day, Independence Day, St. Patrick's Day, Veteran's Day, and Halloween are all good times to stop in for the show.
The South Bend River Lights are located along the St. Joseph River near Seitz Park and the Century Center Island. The show begins each night about a half an hour before sunset.
Lights change and move until Midnight and then go to a single color for the rest of nighttime.
The South Bend River Lights can be accessed from 340 E Colfax Ave., South Bend, IN 46617 or many of the surrounding parks. Learn more on the downtown South Bend website or its official Facebook page.
