Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
Hungry bookworms of the Hoosier State, rejoice! We found a super cool little spot you’re sure to love. It’s a repurposed restaurant in Indiana that serves up great bar food, delectable steaks and chops, and to-die-for drinks. What was it originally? A library. You’ll still get the library-esque vibe thanks to the decor as soon as you enter – but it’s a library with food and booze. Which is awesome. Check it out:
Once upon a time, this was Carmel's public library.
The building was constructed in 1913 and dedicated in 1914. In 1972, it was purchased by the town of Carmel and turned into a courthouse and offices for a while.
In 1998, though, the entire building was repurposed into a bar and grill: Woody's Library Restaurant was officially born, and to this day, it's a favorite among locals.
Carmel is an active, bustling little town, and we couldn't think of a better location for Woody's Library Restaurant to be at. It's smack-dab in the center of everything, and it's a great place to stop for a bite before you do the shops and cafes Carmel has to offer.

You can take your pick between bar food classics like wings and beer, or maybe go for the tried-and-true Indiana favorite: the deliciously juicy breaded pork tenderloin.
Alternatively, order a ribeye steak or a cut of top sirloin. Fans of seafood will love the seared salmon, and lovers of comfort food will go nuts for the chicken pot pie and pot roast.
There's also lots of lighter fare, like soups, salads, and sandwiches - all of which are just as fresh and delicious as the steaks, seafood, and chops.
Woody's Library Restaurant also serves up one of the best wine lists in Indiana - it's even made the "Indy's Top 10 Wine List Award" a few times! Not a fan of wine? No biggie. Beer, whiskey, or gorgeous mixed drinks are also up for grabs.
Sit outdoors when it's nice (which is a lot), or sit inside when it's hot.
Be sure to also leave room for dessert, because Woody's has a great selection of perfect finishes in the form of sweet wonderfulness. What will you order? Vanilla ice cream? Crème brulee? Apple streusel? There's more, too. Good luck.
This repurposed restaurant in Indiana is great for almost every occasion.
