When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
As local travel experts, we know what travelers are looking for when it comes to finding the perfect accommodations for their next trip. To compile our lists, we scour the internet to find properties with excellent ratings and reviews, desirable amenities, nearby attractions, and that something special that makes a destination worthy of traveling for.
You know that feeling you get? You know the one: it’s where you want to pack up a single bag and escape to Miami Beach, but you don’t have the time (or the funds) to do so. We get it; we often find ourselves feeling the same way. Well, we went and found a luxurious escape hidden in Jeffersonville, Indiana, that’s right up along the shore of the beautiful Ohio River and, thanks to the waterfront views from almost every window, it’s easy to forget you’re in the Midwest while you’re staying here. You’d be doing yourself a major disservice by not checking out this gorgeous river house in Indiana while planning that next last-minute getaway. What would you pack in that only bag?
For us, it would probably be a bottle of wine and a good book, but the best part about this whole thing is that you can do whatever you'd like.
You get the entire house to yourself; it's stunningly elegant and very modern, but it still feels comfortable enough to kick back and relax in.
The house's amazing location right beside the river makes it a coveted destination for getaways, anniversaries, vacations, honeymoons, and anything else you can dream up.
It sleeps up to eight guests very comfortably, but we totally get it if you're feeling a more one-on-one thing, or better still, a self-care safe haven where all your worries will melt away.

The open floor plan gives the entire place a calm, roomy feel.
River Den is easily one of our favorite river houses we've ever covered. It's just really hard to top the incredible river views you get even from the bedrooms. Imagine waking up to a riverfront sunrise with a cup of coffee and that book we mentioned earlier. Pure paradise.
If you prefer to venture out, Louisville is just a stone's throw away, and so are plenty of eateries, galleries, shops, and more.
Of course, you can always get out on the water! Rent a boat or bring your own; boating the Ohio can be both invigorating and relaxing, and there is plenty of that to be done around these parts.
We recommend booking this one about a month or two out (though sometimes you can get lucky with an ASAP booking, too).
What do you think? Would you stay a weekend or two at this amazing river house in Indiana? If you’d like to start planning your trip by booking ahead, be sure to visit the official Airbnb listing.
