Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
Indiana is an unexpectedly magical place, full of all sorts of natural wonders, state and National parks, campgrounds, and even waterfalls; speaking of campgrounds, though, I’d like to show off one of the state’s most beautiful – and beloved. Hidden away at Turkey Run State Park is the Turkey Run Campground, and if you’re craving Indiana adventure at any time, it’s the perfect place to run off to. Open year-round and ready for you and yours, this incredible little slice of paradise might just be one of the best campgrounds in Indiana, hands-down.
When I say Turkey Run State Park is like something out of a J.R.R. Tolkien novel - I definitely mean it. No exaggeration.
No matter how you prefer to do your camping, there are plenty of options. There are 213 electric sites, six of which are ADA-accessible (yay!). For the kids, there are a few awesome youth tent camp areas.
There are also modern restrooms and a camp store, too, which make this campground one of the coolest, most modern spots in the Midwest. It's all the delights of camping without worrying about the restroom thing... which is nice.
From the last week of April until Memorial Day, the Camp Store is open on Friday evenings (and all day on Saturdays).
Memorial Day weekend through the first weekend of November, the camp store is open six days a week (closed on Sundays). Monday through Thursday, the store is open from 10 a.m. until 8:30 p.m., and on Fridays and Saturdays, it's open until 9 p.m.
Turkey Run State Park is an amazing place full of wonder, intrigue, and adventure.
By setting up camp here, you're promising yourself a ridiculously fun experience - one that you'll never forget.
So, seriously – come out and see why Turkey Run State Park is home to one of the best campgrounds in Indiana. For more information about the park and camping here, be sure to visit the official Turkey Run State Park website. If you’d like to step up your hiking game before you arrive, I strongly recommend AllTrails Plus – I have no clue how I ever hiked without it.
