Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
If you’ve ever wondered anything to the effect of what’s the quirkiest place I can go in the Midwest, you’re in luck just by being in Indiana. Indiana’s home to plenty of offbeat or otherwise unique destinations you won’t find anywhere else (the world’s biggest Dr. Who museum immediately comes to mind), including the one we’re about to chat about today: a delightful ice cream shop nestled within the world’s largest cookie jar museum. Yep. You read that right: it’s a cookie jar museum in Indiana filled top-to-bottom with cookie jars, and it’s absolutely delightful. Check it out:
Welcome to Grannie's Cookie Jars & Ice Cream Parlor, where all your dessert-themed dreams can come true.
Way too many people go their entire lives without seeing even one cookie jar, so what about seeing, oh, we don't know - maybe 2,600+ all in one setting?
Literally, if you can imagine it, it's probably found here in cookie jar form (and it's probably every bit as adorable as that sounds). There are jars shaped like the Titanic, jars shaped like famous cartoon characters, and so much more.

It's all a part of a collection that began in 1988 by a lady that we might as well refer to as Indiana's nana.
After all, Grannie's Cookie Jars & Ice Cream has exactly that: lots of cookie jars... and plenty of ice cream. All with Grannie's loving touch, of course.
Wander through the countless cookie jars and find your way to the parlor in the back, where you can be helped to a heaping couple scoops of home-made ice cream (in a home-baked waffle cone, of course).
Even if cookie jars aren't a major point of interest for you (Wait, what? Isn't it everyone's?), you still have some of the downright best ice cream in Indiana to look forward to, so coming out is worth it for everyone involved.
The entire place is a delightful experience from start to finish; once you have your ice cream, you can really vibe and check out all the jars up-close.
You could kill an entire afternoon here; good luck picking your favorite cookie jar, because there's just too many to choose from.
...oh, and before we forget to mention it: there are also more than 1,000 salt and pepper shakers 'round here, too, and we love the sweet-n-salty combination.
Can’t get enough of Grannie’s unusual collection? Check out the information page on Franklin County’s official website. Grannie’s is so mom-and-pop that it doesn’t have a website of its own, but you can find important info there.
