If we told you there’s a small town just 20 minutes north of Indy that’s filled with all the Midwestern charm in the world, what would you think? Well, guess what, friends – it’s true, and this little town is truly something else. This town, with a population of just over 27,000 people, truly embodies the vibe of the Midwest. It’s small, walkable, and ridiculously friendly. It’s beautiful and full of intriguing history that goes way back to the 1820s. It’s the town of Zionsville, and it’s no surprise that this little place comes up again and again in lists of the best places to live in the United States. This little town might just be the most Midwestern town in Indiana, and folks are always, always, raving about it. Check it out:
Though the town of Zionsville was not officially platted until 1852, its history goes back at least another two decades.
It went through a few names before settling on its current one; originally, it was going to be Marysville in honor of the founder's wife, but she wasn't a fan of the idea, so it was named Zion's Village (after one of the other founders) instead. Later, it would be renamed again - permanently - to Zionsville.
Today, this adorable little slice of paradise is just about as pleasantly Midwestern (and oh-so-Indiana) as it gets.
There's a very strong sense of community here; and over the years, the town has earned numerous accolades celebrating its varied successes in education, quality of life, and so much more.

It's an intriguing blend of modern and rustic, with lots of new shops and stores set up in old, historic buildings.
Being so close to Indianapolis affords townsfolk the luxury of being nearby big-city amenities. Folks around here tend to stick to this little town, though, for everything they need.
There's always something going on around here, from parades and block parties to festivals and family-friendly events. You and yours will never have a reason to be bored here.
What are some of the accolades Zionsville has claimed thus far?
It's hard to narrow it down to just a few; Zionsville earned a four-star school designation by the Indiana Department of Education. Zionsville Community High School has one of the highest GQE scores in the entire state. It is frequently named as one of the best towns in the United States to call home.
It's host to more than 500 acres of parks, hiking, biking, and walking trails.
Public parks include fun amenities like splash pads, playgrounds, skate parks, sledding hills, and so much more. Indoors or outdoors, Zionsville is where you want to be.
We're pretty sure that once you come to visit, you'll feel the need to stay.
Zionsville is an amazing place to raise a family, start a life, or begin again. It's perfect no matter what time of year it is, or who your neighbors are.
