Tucked away in the northwest corner of Indiana, along Lake Michigan, is one of the most underrated museums in the state. If you love all things nautical, then this is the destination for you.
Open Tuesday through Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m., the museum offers both self-guided, docent-led, and audio tours. Admission gets anyone who is more than 5 yeas of age all the way up into the lantern tower.
Indiana's oldest lighthouse was in use for more than 100 years. Though it started as a "postlight" in 1835, the permanent structure was built and put into use in 1837.
