The Oasis Diner originally opened in 1954 under James Canavan and Frank Thurber. The stainless steel structure was designed by Mountain View Diners out of New Jersey and brought to Plainfield via railroad. The diner has undergone different owners throughout the decades including the Thompsons, Diningers, Raymond Piercy, and (most currently) locals Doug Huff and Don Rector.
The Oasis has been renovated a couple of times, too. After closing in 2008, the restaurant was later relocated and brought back to life by the current owners. Nearly every detail of the original 1954 eatery was brought back!
