When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
Hoosiers, get excited: for the first time since the 1930s, there’s a brand-new lodge being built at one of our beautiful state parks. Potato Creek State Park is already dreamlike in its beauty, so to hear we’re getting a nice new place to stay is wonderful! Let’s check out some of the mock-ups and things to be excited about for this new state park lodge in Indiana. Sure, there are already lots of places to stay around here… but this one’s going to be particularly appealing.
Potato Creek State Park is one of those underrated places in Indiana that the locals love and visitors overlook.
Located about 12 miles south of South Bend, the park is 3,840 acres of amazing forests, a sparkling lake and, of course, Potato Creek.
Anyone who loves this particular Indiana state park will be thrilled to hear about the up-and-coming lodge known, at least for now, as The Lodge at Potato Creek.
This is the first state parks facility built "from the ground up", as they put it, since 1939 - establishing that this is more than 80 years in the making!
No need to worry about winter spoiling the watery fun here - it's nice and cozy inside all year long. Also to be expected is a nature center, lake access, and more. It's gonna be a whole thing, friends, and I personally can NOT wait.
It couldn't be opening at a more beautiful place, either.
Potato Creek State Park is woefully underrated and overlooked on all counts; it's amazingly beautiful, and no matter which part of Indiana you're coming from, it's worth the journey. If you happen to be planning on road tripping it out, you can't miss our epic road trip packing list. It's handy, I promise.
Stay for a night, or stay for 10 - no matter what, The Lodge at Potato Creek is sure to relax the spirit and calm the mind.
