Hoosiers Are Freaking Out Over This New Law In Indiana
Indiana has some pretty strange laws, some of which are outdated and others that just don’t make any sense at all. However, there’s been one law that many Hoosiers have been fighting to change for decades…and it’s finally been reversed.

Hoosiers are proud of Indiana's quirks. They're what set us apart from other states. But one strange quirk Hoosiers had a hard time defending was their inability to buy alcohol on Sundays. Up until this past weekend, doing so was illegal.

Grabbing beer for the big game, choosing a bottle of wine for a Sunday night dinner with friends, creating a swoon-worthy Bloody Mary...all of these things were previously unimaginable on Sundays. Hoosiers had to plan ahead for Sunday events and stock up on Saturdays. And every Hoosier has faced that embarrassing moment of trying to purchase alcohol on a Sunday, only to be shamed by the check out clerk.

While Hoosiers could still enjoy a drink while out to eat on Sundays, they simply couldn't bring the alcohol home, which didn't make a lot of sense to many residents. After years of fighting to overrule the law, Governor Eric Holcomb signed a new bill into law on February 28th, eliminating this Prohibition-style ban of alcohol on Sundays.

The law isn't without its limitations, though. Hoosiers can go to grocery stores, convenience stores, liquor stores - basically wherever alcohol is sold - and purchase alcohol between the hours of noon and 8pm on Sundays. A proposal to extend these hours was dismissed, though there is hope to expand them in the future. In addition, a bill proposing grocery stores and convenience stores be allowed to sell cold beer was was also dismissed, granting this sole right to liquor stores only. As of today, Indiana is the only state that regulates beer sales by temperature, so there's no need to worry about our state losing its quirkiness.

The bill became effective in March, and March 4th was the first official Sunday alcohol sale day. So, stop worrying about pre-planning alcohol for that family get-together or brunch next week....Indiana finally has you covered.
