This incredible home built in the 1850s had the makings of a perfect, private estate. However, soon after this gorgeous house was constructed, tragedy struck. This house is believed to have been used as a safe haven for escaped slaves on the Underground Railroad.

Legend has it that one fateful night in 1858, a group of slaves were hiding in the basement of this house when the unthinkable happened - one of the slaves knocked over a lantern, starting a large fire, and burning all of the escaped men, women, and children alive.

When the estate owner, Alexander Hannah, realized what had occurred, he covered his tracks by burying the bodies in the house's basement. Many believe this trapped the souls of these slaves in the house forever.

Visitors claim to have heard and even seen the ghosts of some of these lost souls. While most of the sightings occur within that very basement, weird occurrences have also been reported in the upstairs level of the house, as well as around the premises.
