Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
If we told you that the single most peaceful small town in Indiana was less than an hour away from Chicago, would you believe it? Well, it’s true – and it’s the amazing town of St. John. With a relatively low population and proximity to all sorts of fun and interesting attractions, St. John is an idyllic place to call home or to simply escape to for a while. Come check out the single safest, most peaceful town in IN… and you might never want to leave.
There isn't a whole lot going on in St. John at any given time...
It's a very quiet, peaceful, incredibly safe little town, and although there aren't a lot of things to do in town, there are plenty of things to do around town.
While you're exploring, you'll find yourself drawn in by the serenity of the neighborhoods; but in the famous words of Billy Mays (we miss him): Wait! There's more!

Check out Zig-E's Funland, which is a delightful foray into the art of indulging your inner child.
Zig-E's is an amazing place to indulge in some youthful fun for a few hours - if not the whole day!
If you'd prefer something a little more low-key, no worries: there's another fascinating attraction in St. John, Indiana, that you might want to check out.
It's the Shrine of Christ's Passion, and whether you're secular or not, you're sure to find amazement in the stunning sculptures all over the grounds.
Once you've visited Zig-E's and the Shrine, you might look for other things to do. Well, that's when you'll have to look outside of - but close to - town.
Chicago's just an hour away, and Lake Michigan is quite closeby as well.
