Wedgies Everywhere! These 10 Cities In Indiana Have The Most Nerds

Do you consider yourself to be a nerd? Have you ever wondered where the nerds prefer to live in Indiana? Well, I’ve done some research. First, I looked at cities with the most bookstores (I focused on independent bookstores.) Indiana is home to a little more than 300 bookstores and slightly more than half of those are independent bookstores. Next, I took a look at the smartest cities in the state. I used Venture Beat as well as a few other website to rank the cities (after all most nerds are smart). Finally, I used College Simply to factor in how many colleges were in/near these cities.
I know there are plenty of you who are not going to agree with this list or think other cities should have been included. But, this is the cities with the most nerds based on the research I did. Just keep in mind, I’m just ONE person and this is just MY opinion of the Hoosier state.
Indianapolis is home to the most bookstores (including independent bookstores in the state). It's also home to the Gen Con (comic and gaming convention) which is just a huge convention for nerds. Indianapolis is also home to several different colleges. Say what you will about Indianapolis, it's the king of nerds in the state of Indiana.
Bloomington is known as the college student hub of the state. Not all college students are nerds, but most of them are… I mean you have to be some level of nerd to be willing to pay so much money to continue school after 12 years of school. So, it really shouldn’t be that surprising to see Bloomington on this list.
West Lafayette was listed in one of the smartest 100 cities in the United States. It's also home to Von's Books (315 W. State St.) which is a bookstore that was established back in 1968 making it one of the most respected and oldest book stores in the area. The city is also home to Purdue University which is loaded with nerds! Need I say more?
Chesteron makes the list for being home to O'Gara and Wilson, an independent bookstore located at 223 Broadway. This book store was established in 1882!
Columbus makes the list for being home to several different college campuses (again these campuses are loaded with nerds). The city is also home to Viewpoint Books, an independent bookstore that has been around since the 70’s.
Did you know there are 20 colleges within 50 miles of Decatur? That alone is reason enough for Decatur to make this list. Nerds move to Decatur because it's conveniently located near so many colleges.
There are 29 colleges located within 50 miles of Goshen. Goshen is also home to Goshen College. This city is also home to Better World Books, an independent bookstore.
Rose-Hulman is the reason this city made the list. No offense to anyone who went to this school, but the school is packed full of nerds. You have to be like a top nerd to go to this school. Just for the record, my younger brother went to this school. And he was 110% nerd.
