In a horrible twist of fate, the small town of Delphi was struck with tragedy this week after two 13-year old girls went missing on Monday. On Wednesday it was confirmed after autopsy reports were released that the girls’ bodies had been found in town along Deer Creek. With the unknown murderer still at large, here’s what we know so far about this upsetting case:
13-year old Abigail Williams and Liberty German had no school on Monday and were dropped off in Delphi alone to go hiking.
A relative had dropped both of the girls off in town to go hiking alone on Monday. That day the girls were seen walking across Monon High Bridge when German shared a picture of Williams on the bridge via Snapchat, not far from where their bodies would later be discovered. The plan was for the girls to meet another relative at a predetermined spot for their ride home, but when the girls never showed they were reported missing.
After volunteers began searching for the girls on Tuesday, one of them discovered both bodies in a wooded area not far from Deer Creek.
Tuesday morning everyone's worst fears came true when both Williams and German were discovered murdered roughly 50-feet from the banks of Deer Creek. Police have reported that the bodies were found about three-quarters of a mile from Monon High Bridge where the girls had been dropped off. As of right now, FBI remains at the scene collecting evidence and authorities are not currently releasing the girls' cause of death.
Indiana State Police have released photos of a man that was seen hiking the trails on Monday, asking anyone and everyone for help identifying him.

The police are not currently calling the man a suspect, but he was seen on the trails at the same time as the girls were. Local authorities are urging all residents in the area to keep track of the kids and to report anything unusual that they might see. The small town with roughly 3,000 residents has been shocked by this devastating incident.
Anyone who was hiking along the Delphi Historic Trails on Monday (specifically near the High Bridge Trailhead) has been asked to come forward with any information they may have to help solve this case. Anyone looking to report information can contact the Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, Delphi Police Department at 765-564-2345 or the Indiana State Police at 765-567-2125.
