Stunning canyons, carved primarily out of sandstone over millions of years, line many of the breathtaking hiking trails (of which there are 11).
The park is open year-round, but to experience the canyon in all its true glory, we strongly recommend checking it out during the warmer months.

It'll be a deep, lush, emerald green, and on special days you'll even find it accompanied by a mist that only makes things even more magical.
To access the canyon (and most of the trails), you'll want to cross the suspension bridge over Sugar Creek.

What is now the Indiana we all know and love was once a heavily-wooded region, and this amazing preserve is one of the very few remaining untouched parts of our state.
All of the trails are open from dawn to dusk, so you've got plenty of time to enjoy one (or more).

Be sure to wear good, sturdy shoes, and be ready to get wet - there are plenty of creek crossings to conquer, but something about them just makes this area feel even wilder.

You'll find a mixture of very easy, very challenging, and somewhere-in-between trails for your enjoyment. Few things are as humbling as a stroll through the beautiful Grand Canyon of Indiana. Sure, it's not THE Grand Canyon... but it's definitely grand in all its own ways.
