This park is home to the state’s three tallest sand dunes. Right on the south shore of Lake Michigan, you’ll fall in love with the gorgeous views you get from the top of the dunes.
This state park was established in 1925 and boasts over three miles of coastline filled with sand dunes.
The dunes were created by receding glaciers over 10,000 years ago. The sands here, called "singing sands," are made up of quartz and silica from the glaciers. This type of sand is very unique and makes a lovely sound when you walk on it.
There are trails rating many different difficulties, so you will find one that suits your interests and abilities. There’s even a paved trail that parallels the shoreline if you want an easy one with great views.
