This park is home to the state’s three tallest sand dunes. Right on the south shore of Lake Michigan, you’ll fall in love with the gorgeous views you get from the top of the dunes.
This state park was established in 1925 and boasts over three miles of coastline filled with sand dunes.
The entire state park has 2,000 acres of beauty to explore. The sand dunes that populate this area take thousands of years to form.
These dunes can tower more than 200 feet over the gorgeous Lake Michigan.
The dunes were created by receding glaciers over 10,000 years ago. The sands here, called "singing sands," are made up of quartz and silica from the glaciers. This type of sand is very unique and makes a lovely sound when you walk on it.
The 3 Dune Challenge is a dare to climb the three tallest dunes in both the park and the state of Indiana.

Others are steep, sand-filled trails. It’s definitely a workout, as a hike through sand is not easy!
If you’re looking for more fun when you finish this challenge, the park has more than 70 miles of hiking trails to explore.
