You don’t have to be made of money to have a good time in Indiana. In fact, one thing you’re going to learn about Hoosiers is a large portion of us don’t have a lot of extra money to throw around. We don’t, however, let that stop us from having a good time. In fact, there are a lot of places in Indiana you can go to and enjoy without ever having to crack open your wallet (or only having to crack it open to pay a very cheap admission fee.)
1. Minnetrista Gardens, 1200 N. Minnetrista Parkway Muncie, Indiana
How does strolling through several different themed nature areas and gardens sound? What about viewing beautiful outdoor sculptures? This is what the Minnetrista Gardens has to offer its guests. There is a children’s garden, pizza garden, secret garden, and so much more. You can visit their website to learn even more about the different gardens.

2. Indiana War Memorial Plaza,1 Monument Circle, Indianapolis, Indiana
The plaza consists of 5 blocks of memorial space dedicated to the veterans of Indiana. You can view commemorative monuments, beautiful architectural design, sculptured gardens, and a military themed museum.
3. Swope Art Museum, 25 S. Seventh St., Terre Haute, Indiana
You can view nearly 3,000 different beautiful pieces of art at this museum. Artists from the 19th or 20th century created most of the art on display. There are both temporary exhibits and permanent exhibits for guests to enjoy.
The Indiana Medical History Museum is an incredible museum found on the west side of Indianapolis that a lot of people don't even know exists. Periodically, they offer free guided tours through the museum. You can visit their website to see when their next guided tours are scheduled. On a regular basis, the museum’s admission is not free. For $10 (or less depending on your age and whether or not you're a student), this is a museum you're really going to enjoy.
5. Indianapolis Museum of Art, 4000 Michigan Road, Indianapolis, Indiana
This museum contains over 50,000 pieces from all different eras and cultures. There are even several interactive art pieces that everyone (especially children) can really enjoy.
6. Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge, 12985 E. U.S. Highway 50, Seymour, Indiana
This refuge features over 7,000 acres of grassland, wetland, and forest for you to enjoy. You can see river otters, white-tailed deer, bald eagles, raccoons, wild turkey, and more while you're there. Did you know there are nearly 300 species of birds that have made this refuge their home?
7. Indiana Railway Museum, 1 Monon St., French Lick, Indiana
This museum is a great place to go if you have any kind of interest in the railway system, or its history. You'll get to see a lot of old locomotives and learn all about their history.
