Indiana has its fair share of secrets. From an underwater ghost city to the famous Lost River, there are plenty of natural spots to find and uncover throughout the Hoosier state. Most people don’t know, however, about the story of the hidden stream in Indianapolis. This hidden stream is located mostly within plain sight, then disappears under some pretty famous buildings.
Pogue's Run is the name of a stream that runs through the southeastern parts of Indianapolis. The stream is named after one of the area's earliest settlers, George Pogue.
George Pogue disappeared one day, last spotted following a Native American he believed might know something about his missing horses. Pogue was never heard from again...and soon, the river named in his honor would also disappear.

When Indianapolis was laid out, Pogue's Run stuck out like a sore thumb, preventing the city from being laid out in a symmetrical manner. The river also overflowed often, so finally, in 1905, they trapped most of the stream underground, and built what's now the Lucas Oil Stadium and major highways on top of the stream.
