This Indiana City Is One Of The Most Haunted In The State

Originally established in the early 1800s, Carmel, Indiana has become a pretty hip city, even earning the ranking of "Best Place to Live in the U.S." in 2012. With over 85,000 residents, Carmel has climbed its way to the 5th largest city in Indiana and has a pretty well-known reputation as the roundabout capital of the country.

Carmel is also famous for its high levels of paranormal activity, a fact that not many Hoosiers often link to the urban area. What’s unique about this haunted city is that it has such a diverse mix of old and new buildings that the haunted activities tend to range more than other cities.

Woody’s Library Restaurant, located on East Main Street is one of the most haunted places in all of Carmel. While stories of paranormal activity range, one ghost in particular stands out. A janitor who worked for the library in the early 1900s, Isiac Bales, is rumored to still haunt his old stomping grounds. Many customers and employees have confirmed this sighting, as well as compared this ghost to old photos of Bales.

Another famous paranormal site in this city is Fox Hollow Farm, which has been featured on Ghost Adventures. This farm was owned by assumed serial killer, Herbert Baumeister, and is rumored to be full of paranormal activity. Baumeister eventually committed suicide, leaving the farm behind. The family who moved into the farmhouse after Baumeister claimed they often saw ghosts, heard strange knocking noises, and weird voices throughout the estate.

Other buildings like the old Illusions restaurant and former TGI Fridays were also rumored to be haunted. Stories tell of a seance in the former Illusions restaurant that caused all type of shadowy presences to appear, while former TGI Fridays workers claimed they would hear banging, reggae music, and ghosts moving about in the kitchen.
