This cozy and charming inn has quite a history and is among the most haunted places in Indiana. The inn’s current owner first noticed that the rooms’ guestbooks all had paranormal accounts charted in them. Furthermore, visitors and staff have all given accounts of spotting the famous "Blue Lady" who often would appear in the Garden Room and likes to leave blue items behind and is also associated with the smell of cherry tobacco. Many visitors claim they smell this even if they never spot her. This hotel is now closed but it used to offer up numerous paranormal stories. Though the source of the hauntings remains oddly mysterious, guests have found themselves encountering strange activities. Some claim closet doors open on their own, while others have seen a mysterious glowing light. Others have even reported the sounds of ghostly voices, footsteps, and ballroom music and dancing throughout the night. You can check out the exterior of this old building, but you can’t stay inside any longer. This is one of the Indiana haunted places you'd want to avoid!
3. Barbee Hotel - Warsaw

This hotel is known for housing famous gangsters such as Al Capone back in the early 1900s. Rumors state that the ghosts of some of the old gangsters still reside within the hotel. One legend states that a gangster’s girlfriend was murdered in one of the rooms, and visitors claim to hear her screams and feel cold areas indicating that her spirit still resides nearby. Hotel Mudlavia was originally built in the late 1800s. Since then, its construction has burned down three times. Now, the hotel remains in ruins. Legends claim that an insane asylum was built here after the first fire, though there is no confirmation of this. Other legends state Dillinger stayed here and his gang was actually killed here. Locals also claim it was a site for practicing witchcraft. People claim to hear noises, see apparitions, and some swear they’ve been pushed here. Legend claims she was murdered by a pilot in the hotel. Her ghost could often be seen in hotel mirrors or sitting on the edge of guests’ beds.
6. The Canyon Inn - Spencer

This popular hotel is another one in Indiana that visitors swear is haunted. According to rumors, this building used to be an insane asylum before it was a touristy hotel. The result? Visitors claim they are often woken up by screams in the middle of the night. Others have also claimed to have heard people crying and footsteps walking by even when nobody was there. You can stay in this hotel and try it out for yourself and enjoy McCormick Creek State Park while you're at it.
