This Unassuming Haunted Indiana House Harbors A Very Dark And Tragic Past
When it comes to dark and equally unfortunate pasts, the Hannah House in Indiana is about as tragic and morbid as it gets. This beautiful, unassuming red-brick mansion built in the mid-1800s for an Indiana state legislator was never intended to become a place of tragedy but, unfortunately, that’s simply how things work out sometimes.

It didn't take long for the beautiful house to become a hopeful beacon in the night for slaves escaping the southern US. For many years, the Hannah House assisted escaping slaves in their long and dangerous journeys north and away from the horrors of slavery.

Men, women, and children were said to be among those burned to death that horrific night. Considering that the consequences for harboring escaped slaves concerned Hannah and his family, he opted to bury the deceased in the remains of the basement to avoid suspicion from others.

Commonly reported spooky happenings include hearing crying, screams, moaning and whispering coming from unoccupied rooms (or basement space, which is seriously even creepier), cold-spots, and even full-body apparitions from time to time.

In fact, whisperings and writings about the house being haunted began circulating in the late 1800s, once Hannah's family was long gone from the property and other families had since moved in.

It is said that Mrs. Hannah delivered a stillborn baby in the house, and the cries of a baby have been reported at the Hannah House more than once
