The Basilica of the Sacred Heart is a Roman Catholic church, which also serves as the mother church to the entire Congregation of Holy Cross in the country. Its neo-gothic design is quite unique and certainly amazing to behold in person.

This stunning basilica has a bell tower which stands 218 feet tall, the tallest of all college chapels in the country. The church was constructed in the 1870s and was finally consecrated nearly 18 years later. The church officially became a basilica in 1992, when Pope John Paul II raised its status in the Catholic ranks.
