Tori Jane is a storm chaser, writer, photographer, and the village idiot - in that order. When she's not out and about dancing with the meanest storms on planet Earth for funsies she can be found wandering, shooting landscapes, writing, editing photos, and otherwise up to no good. Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
If there’s anything Hoosiers are great at, it’s finding adventure even in the unlikeliest of places – like the American Midwest. Turns out, Indiana’s a hotbed of awesome activities, including some of the best hiking in the nation. It’s true! With thousands of miles of amazing trails to choose from, the fun never ends. Take, for example, the absolutely legendary 4 Falls Challenge, which you can find at Clifty Falls State Park. Perhaps appropriately, this amazing hike is about four miles long, and every step of it is an adventurer’s dream.
First things first: you'll want to start your adventure by stopping at the Nature Center.
Along the way, you'll spot two of the park's most famous waterfalls: Big Clifty Falls and Little Clifty Falls.

Big Clifty Falls is 60 feet high at its tallest, and following snowmelt or a good, solid rainstorm, it can be roaring and heard for what feels like forever before you arrive.
Little Clifty Falls is, interestingly, also 60 feet tall. Both of them are breathtaking, and it's no mystery as to why both waterfalls are so famous. You'd be hard-pressed to find someone in the Midwest who's never heard of either.
Hoffman Falls can be a little tough to see, especially if it's not at its fiercest. This amazing waterfall is an impressive 78 feet tall when it's at its best. You'll be able to spot it from a handy-dandy viewing platform built just for those of us who enjoy these challenges.
From here, you'll take Trail #4 another 2.75 miles to Tunnel Falls, which, like its three siblings, is totally worth the effort.
At 83 feet tall, this is THE tallest waterfall in the entire park. And, like the others, when it's fully roaring it's an incredible sight to behold. The whole adventure should theoretically take about three and a half hours to complete - unless you choose to linger at the waterfalls, which I definitely recommend.
Once you've conquered the entire challenge, meander on back to the nature center to get your reward:
A delightful sticker, and lots of bragging rights.
