Legend has it that she can also be occasionally spotted typing up short bios in the third person, but those rumors are unsubstantiated.
Quick question: what is the best food ever, and why is it tacos? Well, we don’t have an answer for that, but we do have something pretty cool to share with the taco lovers who might be reading this: every year, the town of Evansville gets together for an annual taco festival. You read that right – an epic taco festival in Indiana, of all places. The Midwest isn’t exactly known for its south-of-the-border cuisine, but this festival seeks to fix that. Come out and enjoy some of the tastiest tacos in the entire state all in one place:
The annual Evansville Taco Festival isn't even that old a tradition; it was only a couple of years ago that it got its start, and we couldn't be happier that it's ours.
This year, enjoy the incredible flavor of almost 30 taco vendors from all over the Hoosier State, each bringing their own special twist to a beloved Mexican classic.
Celebrate Hispanic heritage and cuisine with plenty of music, non-food vendors, desserts, and so much more.
It's not just about the tacos, you see; there will also be a margarita bar and tequila expo at the festival for your enjoyment. To say you might want to book a designated driver for the occasion is to understate just how awesome this is going to be. But be sure to drink plenty of water, too - nobody needs a hangover.
This is a family-friendly event, so for the kids, there are all kinds of fun times to be had. There's a kids zone with face painting and bouncy houses, and the little ones will have just as much fun as you will. There's also a pinata smash, and plenty of live music.
Be sure to check out (or compete in, we're not here to judge) awesomely fun stuff like the taco eating competition, the chili pepper eating contest, and so much more.
It's a legitimately fun time, and it's all voucher-based. Every taco costs the equivalent of $3, and there will be plenty of voucher purchasing stations all over the festival so you can re-up any time you need.
If possible, try to leave room for dessert (stop laughing).
We're pretty sure we're all going to stuff ourselves silly with tacos and tequila, but hey, if you've got room at the end of the day for some cotton candy or cake, be sure to indulge.
The annual Evansville Taco Festival takes place this year on Saturday, April 30th, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Bring the entire family; it’s going to be an amazing (and tasty) time. To plan your day and see all the fun stuff that will be there, check out the official event page on Evansville Events. Do you plan on attending this taco festival in Indiana?
