7. Mary Lou Donuts - Lafayette
For less than $8 per dozen, you'll get handmade apple fritters, crullers, Boston cream, tiger tails, and much more. If you're traveling through Lafayette, you have to give this donut joint a try. It's cash only though, so hit an ATM first, and then bask in this sugary goodness.

9. Rocket 88 Doughnuts - Indianapolis
Rocket 88 Doughnuts is a craft donut shop in the Fountain Square district of Indy that prefers the classic spelling of "doughnuts." Their amazing artistic concoctions (including waffle donuts!) are just as delicious as they appear. Vegans rejoice! They have an extensive vegan menu to choose from.

This historic bakery has some of the best donuts near South Bend. Since the late 1920s, West End has been serving customers the finest donuts around, with a line out the door to prove it. Stand in that line, though...you'll thank me for it later. (Side note: cash only.)

16. General American Donut Company - Indianapolis
Be forewarned; you won't leave with just one donut. General American Donut Co is a popular craft donut shop in downtown Indy that has mastered the fine art of donut making. Popular flavor include the maple bourbon bacon, raspberry key lime, the benny (part croissant, part donut), and their light, yet decadent coffee and cream donut. They also make top notch espresso beverages.
