This Covered Bridge Festival In Indiana Is One Nostalgic Event You Won't Want To Miss

Celebrate Indiana’s history in a northwest Hoosier community that few have visited. The town of Upland is hosting a covered bridge festival that is the event of the year for Grant County.

In its 48th year, the Cumberland Covered Bridge Festival will take place just north of the town of Matthews not far from I-69 between Marion and Muncie. This year, the event dates are September 7-9, 2018, and parking is free.
The festival will be open Friday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Expect to find a wealth of locals enjoying games, rides, and amazing food and drinks. The event is hosted by the Matthews Lions Club and has been going on since 1971.
Food vendors will be serving up classic treats like corn dogs, ice cream, cheese fries, and other fried delights that locals look forward to each year. No day at this festival is complete with an elephant ear or funnel cake.
There will also be an antique tractor parade and live entertainment such as choirs, orchestras, and county and rock bands. On Sunday morning, there will even be a community church service held for all to attend.

Taking place all weekend is the antique tractor and car show. History buffs will enjoy checking out a plethora of old-fashioned farming equipment and vehicles that remind us all of a time long gone.
For children, there are horse and pony rides, bounce houses, slides, as well as entertainment designed specifically for the little ones. This is an event that everyone in the community grows up loving.
The historic Cumberland covered bridge was built in 1877 and is still accessible to this day. Come by this marvelous celebration to kick-start fall in the best way.
