It’s Colder In Indiana Right Now Than It Is In Antarctica
We’re no strangers to extreme weather here in Indiana. It’s just a part of life in the Midwest. Still, this winter has been anything but consistent, with a plethora of snowstorms, tons of ice, and temperatures dipping below zero. In fact, it’s colder right now in Indiana than it is in Antarctica.

We've experienced several winter advisories and storms so far this winter, with January bringing below freezing temperatures and insane windchill levels. Schools and even workplaces across the state closed due to the extremely cold temperatures, while travel has been limited throughout the month.

While extreme temperatures aren't really a huge surprise to Hoosiers (we're used to the weather doing whatever it wants!), it is surprising to know that our temperatures are actually colder than Antarctica!

In Marambio Base, Antarctica right now, the weather has been as high as 38 degrees, while we're left with below freezing temperatures. Meanwhile, Indiana has been experiencing temperatures near 0, and even in the negative when factoring in the windchill.

Though the forecast in Indiana is expected to go back up to the high 20s and 30s in upcoming days, we know it's just a matter of time before we're back at near-0 degree temperatures. Be safe out there and make sure you have plenty of flashlights, water, food, and other emergency supplies in case you find yourself without power.
Try to stay warm while we’re experiencing temperatures lower than Antarctica’s weather! For more fun in the wintertime, check out this post on why no on in their right mind visits the Hoosier state in winter.
