Not everyone can really enjoy an all-day hike through rough terrain. Some of us need shorter, easier, trails for many valid reasons. For a beginner-level trail that even families can enjoy, check out the waterfall at Little Clifty Falls Trail in Indiana. It’s short, beautiful, and has a waterfall to boot. What more could you want?
Welcome to Clifty Falls State Park, where a hiking trail leading to the falls is the perfect little adventure for those who want an easy breezy hike.
Clocking in at just 1.6 miles, this trail isn't too hard for even kids to hike, and the pathways aren't very rough either. To make things easy on navigation, the trail is clearly marked and a loop, so you always find your way back to the beginning.
The soothing sounds of the water rushing over and around the rocks is worth every step you take. Spending time out here by the water is a great way to reconnect with nature for a while.
If you're careful, the bottom of the falls is a peaceful place to stand and watch the water splash. If there has been a bit of rain recently, the waterfall is usually going at the perfect rate.
Dogs are allowed on this trail if they are leashed, and the trail is best visited from April through September. Make sure all food waste and trash are taken back with you, in order to keep this trail clean and as undisturbed as possible.
