Originally constructed as a private home in 1864, this charming hotel has a long history of expansions and renovations, the most recent and most extensive taking place in 1910. The gardens themselves were constructed from 1910 to 1913 and are the most magnificent part of this property.
The gardens are open to the public for free, and guided tours are available on Tuesdays and Sundays from 1 to 2 p.m. for $15 per person. Private tours can also be arranged.
The Inn at Irwin Gardens is also home to a greenhouse known as the Gardner's Farm that grows excellent organic fruits and vegetables that are used in the meals made on-site.
