Get lost in a Christmas wonderland when you visit this fantastic candy castle in Santa Claus, Indiana. There’s really no better place to be this time of year.
This sweet shop will whisk you away to the North Pole. Check it out:
Santa's Candy Castle in southern Indiana has been in business since 1935. It was the first building in what was supposed to be Santa Claus Town, but the village as a whole never got on its feet.
The sweet shop is located in the town of Santa Claus which is famous for its Christmas store and summer amusement park, Holiday World. It became famous after being featured in Ripley's "Believe It Or Not" magazine in 1930.
The town was originally named Santa Fe, but it could not acquire a post office as that town name was already taken. Locals voted to change the name to Santa Claus in 1856. Ripley's feature put this town on the map. People began to travel here in hopes of a Christmas wonderland but were disappointed upon arrival. This is what gave locals the idea for a North-Pole-themed town.

Eventually Santa's Workshop and Toy Village was added, but in 1941, everything changed. World War II killed tourism and this Christmas attraction was abandoned.
Though many tried (and failed) to reopen Santa Claus Town, a family who bought the property in 2005 are currently working on the restoration. In 2006, Santa's Candy Castle reopened and still operates today as a magical wonderland of sweets and holiday cheer.
Guests will find an assortment of rare and retro candies like Necco wafers, Fruit Stripe gum, candy buttons, wax bottles, Clark bars, candy cigarettes, pop rocks, and wax lips. There are also handmade fudge, turtles, divinity, toffee, caramels, and peanut brittle.
Don't forget to enjoy the giant wall of PEZ. This candy shop has the largest retail selection in the world. You'll also find unique gifts and seasonal treats to make this holiday season unforgettable.
The store is closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas.
