In a location where the population doesn’t even reach 1,000 residents, Miami County’s small town of Bunker Hill has managed to cause quite a stir over the past week. Leaving the town to fend for itself, every single police officer handed in a resignation letter last Monday. And to make matters even more unusual, this week the town’s council is now calling that two of its own members resign. Haven’t heard about Bunker Hill’s latest drama? Then let’s fill you in.
Last Monday, Town Marshal Michael Thomison and other Police Officers handed in their resignation letters to the Town Council.
In the letters the officers explain that they had been having issues with the Town Board, specifically stating that council members were asking them to do "illegal, unethical and immoral things."
Bunker Hill's Town Marshal of four years, Thomison brought up that there were communication issues between the town and the officers, as well as safety issues that were of a major concern.
In the resignation letters the officers specifically explain that town councilors were asking police officers to run background checks on other board members in an attempt to find out their criminal history, threatening the officers after they were told no.
The other major issue brought up was the town's lack of body armor for its officers. Thomison claims that they were forced to share a set of body armor while they were out on the job.

To make the matter even more upsetting, Thomison claims that when he was ready to come back to the force after dealing with a cancer diagnosis, the town councilors would only allow him to come back part time.
The reason? His insurance was costing the town too much. Thomison has stated that he intends on filing a lawsuit against the councilors.
The town went on to release a statement last Wednesday denying Thomison's claims. In another dramatic twist, this Monday the Town Council called for two of its own members to resign.
In the statement released by the town, Bunker Hill denies that any of its officers were asked to be involved with any illegal or unethical actions, as well as denying that they failed to provide their officers with body armor. To read the entire statement,

The latest news? On Monday a former leader of the Bunker Hill Town Council asked that two of its members resign. Bringing corruption to light, both Louis Nino and Carl Wade of letting their criminal histories bias them against certain situations. The two council members have reportedly had issues with the Police force.
