Gabis Arboretum is a 300-acre space that features formal gardens, woodlands, wetlands, prairies, and hiking trails. Situated in northwest Indiana, it is a marvelous place to spend the day or just a few hours.
Located at the Purdue Northwest campus, this lovely place used to be known as the Taltree Arboretum and Gardens, and its most fascinating feature is the Railway Garden. This award-winning locomotive exhibit spans one acre and will blow away any train enthusiast.

This magical botanical garden is made up of several different types of gardens. There is a rose garden and native plant garden for those looking to enjoy a day of flowers and natural growth.
The Meyer Memorial Pavilion Garden offers a blend of formal and informal designs that change throughout the year. Guests also enjoy a music garden, the welcome garden, as well as an adventure garden that is home to farm animals and vegetation.
Three incredible outdoor sculptures also grace this space. Each is located in a different section of this botanical garden and is a wonderful surprise to find.
Further out from the gardens is the arboretum where guests find hiking trails throughout the diverse ecosystems as well as quiet places to sit and gorgeous views. You won't want to forget to bring your camera along on this trip.
A large collection of oak trees is one of the main attractions to this place if you love the arboretum. Several short trails that span anywhere from half a mile to about 1.5 miles and feature many opportunities to watch wildlife.
